The Story of Sunshine in a Box

Osteosarcoma fighter and Strong Little Souls board member, Carrigan Nelson, is on a heartfelt mission to bring sunshine to teens and young adults facing a cancer diagnosis. Now seven years into her battle with osteosarcoma, Carrigan has endured countless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, over 25 surgeries—including three major lung surgeries—an above-the-knee amputation, and several challenging clinical trials.

Despite everything she continues to face, Carrigan remains determined to share her light with others through her thoughtfully curated care packages, each designed to bring comfort, hope, and a little bit of sunshine to those who need it most.

Sometimes, just knowing someone cares can make all the difference. Sunshine in a Box is our way of bringing light to even the darkest moments. Thoughtfully curated and individually tailored, each package is designed to uplift, bring comfort, and remind you that you are seen, supported, and deeply loved.

Too often, teens and young adults facing cancer are the forgotten group—caught between pediatric and adult care. Sunshine in a Box was created to make sure they know they’re not forgotten, and that their journey matters.
